5 Day - Dealing With Life's Disruptions

Welcome to the FREE 5 Day – Dealing With Life’s Disruptions That Are Beyond Your Control.

Hello

Our emotions can become landmines, especially when we’re overwhelmed.

One thing goes wrong, and we’re now feeling grief, maybe anger, to frustration and then back again.

This becomes particularly prominent during life disruptions. When you’re faced with these life-altering changes, your mind doesn’t automatically know how to cope.

Instead, it smacks you with all of these negative thoughts and feelings. This may leave you feeling lost, alone and uncertain of what to do next.

Disruptions can be incredibly emotionally destructive.

That’s why it’s important to know what to look out for beforehand.

IMPORTANT

Grab something to write with and a pad to write on.

This is not just about reading, it requires your participation!

This is not a ‘drip’ course, all the lessons are available immediately, but we encourage you to just do 1 a day.

Why?

Speed is not of the essence here. Thinking about, and putting into practice what you are learning is what it is about.

Let us know what you think.

Day 1. When Life Comes at You Fast

Our emotions can be landmines, especially when we’re overwhelmed. One thing goes wrong, and we’re running the gamut from grief to anger, to frustration and back again. This becomes particularly prominent during life's disruptions. When you’re faced with these life-altering changes, your mind doesn’t know how to cope. Instead, it smacks you with all of these negative thoughts and feelings. This may leave you feeling lost, alone and uncertain of what to do next. These upheavals can be incredibly emotionally destructive. That’s why it's important to know what to look out for beforehand.

Day 2. The Physical Impacts of Disruptions

So, you know that disruptions can wreak havoc on your mental wellbeing. You know some of the effects and what they look like. But, did you know that it doesn’t stop there? Not only do disruptions have an emotional impact, but it can also even leave a physical one. Think about it. When you’ve been overwhelmed in the past, how have you felt? Nauseous? Lightheaded? Even genuinely sick? These are all symptoms that may arise during an upheaval. We’re not telling this to worry you, we’re telling you this to inform you. After all, how will you come up with a plan to combat these impacts if you aren’t even aware of what they are? Let's explore some more physical effects of disruptions

Day 3. Dealing with Those Disruptions You Can’t Control

Is the day not going right? Disruptions happen when the unexpected kicks it. This can include everything from a flat tire on the way to work or finding out a loved one is very ill. Dealing with this stuff, though, can be difficult. Especially when you feel like you’ve had one surprise too many come your way recently. Dealing with this kind of stress can be a challenge. How do you pick yourself up and keep going when upheaval seems intent on flattening you out? The trick is to start with your attitude. It’s exhausting to be fighting change always. There comes a time when you need to recognize stuff is going to happen. Your day will be interrupted, and on occasion, your plans are going to blow up in your face. Once you acknowledge this simple fact, life gets a little bit easier. The stuff will still happen, but you’re less likely to panic or even feel flustered by it. You already knew it was coming and are still thinking clearly to move on to your next step. Deal 4. Managing Life's Disruptions

Hello Some things can’t be helped or even changed, much as we would wish otherwise. You or someone you love takes ill. The stock market crashes. Someone dies. When confronted with the kind of upheaval which cannot be fixed, we can feel pretty helpless. It’s an awful feeling to know something is entirely out of your control. Being human, we need action. We have to feel like we’re still in there fighting and doing something worthwhile to make things better. Here’s where you need to realize there is something you can do. You can control yourself. Emotions can run away with us at times like this. We become angry, frustrated, terrified, or a host of other negative emotions. These can overwhelm very quickly. By learning how to control our reactions and express ourselves in healthy ways, we keep the stress of upheaval from damaging ourselves and those around us. So, take a deep breath. Count to ten. And channel those emotions somewhere useful. Remember, you’re the master of them, not the other way around. Let's dive a bit deeper into how to mitigate the effects of disruptions

Day 5. Some Real-Life Examples

Prepared for Anything Hello Stuff happens. We already know this from experience. Disruptions can come in many forms from oversleeping when you have an important meeting first thing in the morning to having someone run into your car at the grocery store. The problem with any upheaval is that it’s generally outside of your control. There’s no way to mitigate every circumstance. People get sick. Accidents happen. Other people are going to let you down. By having a plan for when things go wrong, you can change entirely how you deal with the unexpected. While not everything can be prepped in advance, there are several things you can do to keep yourself on top, even with the most unexpected upheaval. Have a full pantry. Put a little extra in the bank account to give you a cushion for extra expenses. The trick is to think about what you need, like scheduling a few additional minutes into your commute in case of a traffic jam. Then you can relax. When any disruption happens, you’re already prepared and can jump in right away to take action. To learn more about how to prepare for real-life disruptions, let's check out our Day 5 Material
